Rather similar to Perl, only without "all the funny characters," this scripting language was developed by IBM as a replacement for their EXEC command processor. Had IBM and Microsoft stayed friends for longer, this could perhaps have replaced the exceedingly shoddy "Batch" capabilities that grew out of COMMAND.COM.
