4. National Anthem (in French)

A probably little-known fact is that "O Canada" was originally written in French. There have been a variety of English translations, but I quite prefer the French wording, as it seems to me to be more patriotic, interestingly religious, and it seeks political good for the Canadian people, unlike the comparatively wishy-washy English versions.

O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux

Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l'epée,

Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée

Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur de foi trempé,
